The third
sector.

Driven by goals other than profit.

The Third Sector, refers to organisations that exist outside the realms of government and private business.

Unlike the public sector (government agencies) and the private sector (for-profit companies), the Third Sector includes entities such as charities, NGOs (non-governmental organisations), social enterprises, and community groups. These organisations are driven primarily by social or environmental goals rather than profit.

Bringing about meaningful change.

In many cases, the Third Sector fills gaps that neither the public nor the private sectors address effectively. This means it works on complex issues like poverty alleviation, human rights, and environmental sustainability. These organisations often collaborate with governments and businesses, forming a bridge between sectors to bring about meaningful change.

Moreover, the Third Sector contributes significantly to the economy, providing employment and services that improve the quality of life. As global challenges become more interconnected, the Third Sector’s importance continues to grow, promoting a more equitable, sustainable, and inclusive society.
