2 MINUTES SOCIAL MEDIA FILM

UNICEF | 2 MINUTES | UK

In Somalia, children walk up to 50km daily for water, which is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases. We designed a hidden camera social experiment video with UNICEF, as an innovative way to confront passers-by with the reality of water scarcity in Somalia, asking the question, ‘How far would you walk for water?’

“One of UNICEF’s most successful films - 30 million organic views online and winner of two awards in the Lovies.

In drought-stricken Somalia only 52% of the population has access to basic water supplies.

Children walk up to 50 kilometres daily in search of water – water that is often contaminated and carries deadly, preventable diseases.

In partnership with UNICEF, we created a hidden-camera social experiment to bring this crisis to global attention. The film posed a simple yet striking question to audiences, “How far would you walk for water?”

We coordinated a social media campaign across UNICEF offices around by the world. This resulted in 30 million organic views online in the first month. The film went on to win two Gold awards in the Lovies, which celebrates online content. The project highlights the immense power of innovative storytelling and strategic distribution in driving awareness on a global scale.
