OFFICE OF THE VICTIMS’ RIGHTS ADVOCATE

I have the right.

Victim-
centred.

In cases of sexual exploitation and abuse committed by UN personnel, justice can take time and perpetrators are not always held to account.

Jane Connors is the UN’s first Victims’ Rights Advocate, tasked with getting a victim-centred approach installed across the UN’s more than 35 entities.

Watch
the film.

Using the stories of real victims, we crafted a sensitive script that foregrounded the rights of victims and the dignity they desire to rebuild lives.

The end film enables staff, sub-contractors and implementing partners to gain a better understanding of the rights of victims.

Sensitive
filmmaking.

The key challenge was creating an impactful and emotive film, without actually featuring the victims themselves.

Restriction often enables creativity to flourish, and the concise phrases delivered directly to camera by actors, result in a powerful and effective film.

All human beings are
born free and equal in
dignity and rights.
