In lower-income countries, 80% of the population depends on food grown by smallholder farmers. In Kenya, where agriculture is the backbone of the economy, these farmers play a crucial role in food production. However, many face significant challenges in maintaining a sustainable livelihood due to limited access to resources, financial services, and climate-smart solutions.
For this project, we traveled to Kenya to document the stories of smallholder farmers who are benefiting from Mercy Corps’ AgriFin program. Through interviews and photography we captured how digital services are transforming their ability to safeguard livelihoods.
